Happy Father's Day!

Today is Father's Day and I want to wish my dad a very HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!  Today I will be spending the day with him in Denver.  I think we will meet up for lunch and then attend the Rockies game starting at 1.00.  It's kind of our thing to go to the game, so I am really looking forward to it.

So it's been a long time since my last blog post.  That's mainly because I have been working basketball camp the last 2 straight weeks.  And not that much time or energy really to sit at the computer and write a post.  But this morning I have finally found time!!

So my first two camps are complete.  The first week I coached 3rd and 4th grade boys and this past week was 5th and 6th grade boys.  This last weeks camp was actually pretty fun because we get to draft our team.  I picked all the players on my team and are stuck with them the entire week.  The first game we played in camp, we end up losing by 25 pts or so...and I'm thinking at this point that it's going to be a loooooooooooooong week with this team.  But then we flip it around and go on to win our next 11 games during the week, including the 5 on 5 championship!!  So that was nice and fun at the same time.

My third camp will be July 5th and will last only 4 days.  But this is the long camp that goes from 8am until 9pm.

Tuesday I am off to Boston to visit Jamie, and then we will travel to upstate New York for Andy and Caitlin's wedding!!  It's going to be great to see them all again!!  Nice for another little vacation also!

Now I will leave you with some pictures these past 2 weeks.  Being in Denver I was able to visit a lot of my friends and their babies of course.

I spent the last two nights with Janey and her family, but will head up to Denver for the next two days.  I'm all over the place this summer!!

Take care everyone!!

Basketball Camp

Now begin the days of camp...basketball camp.  I'm currently down in Denver now staying with Amie and Jason Faust and working the Colorado School of Mines men's basketball camp.  This week is elementary school aged kids and next week will be the comp camp 5th grade to HS.  I will probably coach the 7th and 8th grade boys.  This weeks camp is pretty easy...it only goes from 9-12.  Next week we will go 9-5pm.  And then I will have one more camp the second week of July.  So 3 camps, 3 weeks long.  I have June 20th to July 5th off from camp, so I'm going  to Boston to visit Jamie June 22nd till the 29th. Works out nice that I can also go to Andy's wedding in upstate New York the 26th of June.  Jamie is going to accompany me...so ROAD TRIP just the two of us.  It will be a nice weekend!!

Other summer plans have been finalized.  July 14th I am going toSeattle,  Washington to visit Courtney, and then from there I will go to Des Moines, Iowa to visit my family.  So I am literally going to one coast to the other coast this summer.  It will be enough to keep me busy and the time will go fast.

Yesterday Lauren Redfern came to town to visit me!!  She met me after camp and we hung out shopping the rest of the afternoon.  I bought a brand new camera!!  A silver Cyber-shot Sony W330!!  It has 4x optical zoom and 14.1 mega pixels.  Lauren liked it so much she bought one also!

Later that night, Jason, Lauren and myself met up with friends Steph and Matt in downtown Denver for the Rockies game!  It was fun to just hangout with everyone and talk.  The game started out really exciting but then the Astros came from behind in the 8th inning to win the game.  So that kind of sucked.  Afterwards, we stopped by Lodos to watch the end of the Lakers-Celtic game.  Another bummer that the Celtics lost that game.  Overall though, it was a fantastic night and I'm having a great time with Lauren.

Checking out my new camera, riding the light-rail train to downtown.

It started raining a little so we put bags on top of our heads to prevent afro-hair!

The Rockies!

Today is my birthday-eve.  Tomorrow I will celebrate my birthday in camp and then I believe my friend Amie has planned a girl's night out.  Dinner and a movie most likely...Sex and the City 2.  Nothing crazy.  Looking forward to it!

Have a great week everyone!!

Adoption Fundraiser!

So my last two days have been very busy.  My best friend Janey from HS and her husband Matt, have decided to adopt a third child.  It will be an african-american boy, mostly likely from Mississippi or Georgia.  They hope to have this little guy by January but have a lot of money to raise before then.  So Janey threw a massive garage sale, from many donations that people gave to her to sale.  So there was a huge amount of stuff, I couldn't believe it!  My job was to help organize all this stuff and then sell it.
We started Friday morning at 5.30 AM pulling everything out of the garage and setting it up on tables, laying it on the ground, organizing piles, etc.   Then the big sale took place.  Janey was selling everything from sofas, tvs, outdoor patio chairs, clothes, kitchen supplies, books, kid toys, baby things, and much more.  The first day was great with sales.  We counted the money, and after the first day...Janey and Matt made 1100 dollars!! But we did sell a lot of big things and we were busy all the way until about 2pm when we finally pulled everything back in.
Saturday we started it all up again.  This time a little bit later...we started pulling stuff out around 6.30am this time.  This was a much slower day.  Not many people passed by but we still got a little bit of a crowd here and there.  The big highlight was when Matt and I lifted the sofa-bed from down in the basement to outside to sell.  A little bit of excitement happened there...As we are carrying the sofa up, the bed came out on me.  I had to shove it back in while holding the sofa up.  It was pretty intense there for a moment.  HAHA, but we got the thing out....and finally got it sold by the end of the day.  The grand total for the garage sale was 1600 dollars.  But that also includes some generous donations from people that wanted to help with fundraising for the adoption.
So lots of work this weekend for me but it was all for a good cause and it was fun at the same time!  I'm happy I could be here to help!
Last night I met up with Amie and Jason Faust at a BBQ.  It was a little bit of a birthday celebration for those that are geminis.  I didnt know that, so it was fun that I also had a chance to celebrate my birthday as well.  4 more days until the big day for me.  Anyway, it was a early night since I was exhausted and now this morning I am preparing for my trip to go work basketball camps starting tomorrow in Denver.
Last day with Janey, Matt and the kids.  But ill be back!
I hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Memorial Weekend

Happy Memorial Day everyone!!  My swedish readers are probably wondering what that means...  Today is a day to honor and remember those that gave their lives for our country.  And since we are a country in war, it's an important and meaningful day for many Americans who have lost a loved one.  For me it always symbolizes the beginning of summer and a day to be with family and friends.  And that is exactly what I did.

Today my dad and I went down to Denver to meet up with the Brooks at Red Robin!  I met their newest addition...Jaxon!  He is like a mini-Nick.  SOOOO cute!!  It was a great lunch with Steph and Nick and a good time to catch up with each other!  I always enjoy their company.  I also got all my updates on some Fort Lewis alumni basketball players.  So crazy how everyone has grown up, got married, had kids, bought houses...  the list goes on.  It's always also fun to talk about the old times...good times for sure!

JAXON!! (5 months on Wednesday)

After lunch, my dad and I walked over to Park Meadows Mall and looked around at a couple of shops.  Then we drove to Kellie and Jay's house and to see baby #2, Charlie!!  It's pretty fun visiting all my friends now and seeing all their babies.  Charlie is so adorable and was basically our entertainment.  So we chatted for awhlie with Kel and Jay and then we came back to Colorado Springs.  Since it is Memorial Day, my dad and I thought it was only right to grill out for dinner.  So we stopped at the store and picked up some chicken to grill.  Made dinner tonight and watched the Stanely Cup while we ate.  Chicago ends up winning game #2 and leads the series 2-0.

CHARLIE

Such a curious little guy!

SO now let's rewind in time and let me talk about Sunday.  On Sunday, my dad and I decided to go to Territory Days in Colorado City, just west of Colo. Springs.  Basically Territory Days is a big festival with tons of booths, junk food, concerts and beer gardens.  Just a big celebration in honor of Memorial Day.  There were tons of people at this event.  When we got there, we really had no idea what to do or where to go, so we just began following the herds of people....

Packed with people.

Many of the booths were food stands.  Full of many different choices.  Dad and I decided to try the ribs on a stick and ate sweet potatoe fries and tator twists along with it.  MAJOR JUNK FOOD!  But by far the craziest thing I saw here was the FRIED SNICKERS sign.  I MEAN SERIOUSLY...FRIED SNICKERS???  We really do put the definition of fat in America!  I should of bought one just to see what they taste like, but I didnt get around to it.  But all the food that we tried was delicious (of course it's fried) and beer was nice also.  The weather was amazing and the sun shinned the entire day.  Not too hot though.  I was so exhausted when we got home, that I ended up falling asleep around 8.30.  Too much sun and walking I think.  But it was a fun day for sure!!

My dad eating his ribs on a stick.

Yep I had to take a picture of it.

Tomorrow it is back to Fort Collins to say goodbye to my grandparents.  They are headed back to Arizona on Wednesday, so tomorrow is my last day to hangout with them.  Then it is back to Janey's and the kiddos.  I am going to help Janey prepare for her big garage sale on Saturday!  Can't wait to see them again!!

Dean and Norah eating their popsicles in the sun!!  SOOOOOOOo cute!

WELL goodnight everyone!!
Have a great week!!!
